Meet Manuel Cervantes

SVP, Mortgage & Consumer Loans

Manuel is the SESLOC Mortgage Loan Officer Team Lead

Moved to the Central Coast from: I migrated to the U.S. from Mexico at the age of 13. I relocated to the beautiful Central Coast in 2006 when I married by wife.

On the SESLOC team since: I’ve started my career in credit unions 25 years ago, working for a fantastic credit union in Hanford, CA. When I was looking to relocate to San Luis Obispo, my goal was to work for another credit union in the area. I started at SESLOC as a Member Service Representative, and received several promotions over the years, working up to now being the Senior Vice President, Consumer and Mortgage Loans. Every day I get to do what I am passionate about: helping people when they need a loan for their first car, first home, their daughter’s wedding, or to pay a medical bill for their puppy dog. It is simply the best job for me.

What do you love most about the Central Coast? This is a great place to raise a family.

Weekends on the Central Coast include: You can find me volunteering at my congregation or spending time with my two daughters (Sara & Rebecca) and my wife (Esther). I enjoy doing a hike or going for a mountain bike ride. I love that we are surrounded by parks, trails and the beach. You meet great people as well.

What do you enjoy most about our Mortgage Lending team? The team is passionate about helping our members own their home. We understand the challenge of affordability and tight inventory on the Central Coast, so we are committed to helping our members achieve this goal. Sometimes it takes months or even years, but we are willing to do the hard work. Helping someone hold the keys to their new home is truly rewarding.

What does “People + Place” mean to you? I don’t take for granted how blessed I am to have the opportunity to work for a credit union, the movement of which is centered around helping people and the community you serve. As I work on developing or enhancing a product or service, my top priority is how this will benefit the people and the community we serve.
