SESLOC Visa® credit and Visa® debit cards with EMV chip technology do everything magnetic stripe cards do, but provide additional protection from fraud, because the chip encrypts your data and safeguards the information during the transactions. This new technology makes using your SESLOC Visa more secure, and using the card is easy.
Using your EMV chip card is easy:
Note: Please do not hold a cell phone or a car key with a keyless entry system near the ATM when inserting your card. These devices may interfere with the ATM’s ability to function properly.

EMV Chip Card FAQ
What is an EMV Chip Card?
An EMV chip card is a credit or debit card that has an embedded microchip. The chip adds an additional layer of sophisticated fraud protection by turning cardmember information into a unique code that is more difficult to duplicate when used at a chip-enabled terminal.
Where Can I Use My Chip-Enabled Card & Will Magnetic Stripes Be Discontinued?
Your new card will have both a chip and a magnetic stripe, so it can be used anywhere Visa is accepted.
Do New EMV Chip Cards Require Activation?
For security reasons, your new EMV chip card will require activation:
- For Visa® credit cards: Call 866-762-0558 from your home phone to activate.
- For Visa® debit cards: Call 866-762-0558 from your home phone to activate or make a PIN-based transaction.
Be sure to sign your card immediately and never keep your PIN with your card.
Will My Card Number Change?
Unless your card has been reissued because it was lost, stolen, or compromised, your card number will stay the same.
Will My Expiration Date & Security Code Change?
Yes, both your expiration date and security code will change when you get your new chip card. If you use mobile payments or have recurring payments assigned to your card, you will need to provide those companies with your new expiration date and security code to avoid any disruption in service.
What Should I Do With My Old SESLOC Visa and/or Debit Card?
Once you activate your new chip-enabled card, please destroy your existing card for security reasons.
Why Isn’t My EMV Chip Card Working?
There could be several reasons why your EMV chip card is not working. Here are some possible reasons:
- You are inserting the card incorrectly. Make sure you insert the card “chip-first” with the numbers facing up.
- The card was removed too soon. Do not remove the card from the terminal before the transaction has been completed. Removing the card early will cancel your transaction.
- You are at a self-serve kiosk. You may not be able to use this card at these types of terminals.
- The merchant may not have EMV functionality turned on. Even if they have a terminal that accepts EMV, they may not have activated it for EMV use; just ask the merchant. You may have to swipe the card as a magnetic stripe transaction.
