We recently held a holiday fundraiser in our branches and online in support of the Family Care Network. This local nonprofit supports children and youth in foster care, as well as families struggling with homelessness and unhealed trauma in San Luis Obispo and Northern Santa Barbara Counties this holiday season.
For five years, SESLOC has proudly sponsored EverFi’s Financial Scholars program, providing Central Coast high school students with practical, online financial education curriculum on topics like budgeting, credit, taxes, financing higher education, and more. Here are the program results from the 2023-2024 school year and the impact the program has made on students over the last half decade.
SESLOC’s 2024 Shred Day events break nine years of records by serving 746 visitors and shredding nearly 42,000 pounds of paper! Thanks to our members who attended the events at our San Luis Obispo, Atascadero, Arroyo Grande, Paso Robles and Santa Maria branches, plus our new Lompoc event location. In total, we recycled 133 total bins with about 21 tons of shredded paper— saving 357 trees, 147,000 gallons of water, 63 cubic yards of landfill space, and 84,000 kilowatts of electricity!
SESLOC is honored to have continued our partnership with KSBY News for a fourth year in a row in support of childhood literacy through the “If You Give a Child a Book…” campaign, a collaboration facilitated by the Scripps Howard Foundation. Together, from August 5 to September 15, the community, SESLOC members and SESLOC employee’s collective efforts resulted in the successful fundraising of $72,594.
