SESLOC Credit Union announced today that Shawn Mulqueeney has been selected as the new Senior Vice President/Chief Information Officer. The former CIO, Ken Long, has accepted a new role of Senior Vice President/Chief Risk Officer at SESLOC.
With 25 years of credit union leadership, Shawn Mulqueeney will officially join SESLOC on April 1. Prior to SESLOC, Shawn held various leadership roles with Boeing Employees Credit Union (BECU) in Washington (BECU is the fourth largest credit union in the United States, with nearly $30 billion in assets and 1.4 million members.) His roles included VP of IT Business Solutions and VP of Accounting/Controller. His most recent role with BECU was as an “Executive on Loan” working with Express Credit Union in Washington ($21 million low-income credit union) bringing technology solutions aimed at modernizing their operations and providing process efficiencies.
“We are very excited to welcome Shawn to the SLO community and to the SESLOC team. There are a number of factors about his experience that excited the interview panel, mostly around the diverse spectrum of his work experience, from Controller to IT Business Solutions, from operating in a $30 billion institution to being hands on in a $21 million dollar, low-income credit union. A mix of a little of all of these skillsets are necessary here at SESLOC. Most importantly is Shawn’s established approach in IT to create relationships and to partner with the various business units in order to develop efficient solutions for the credit union,” shared Geri LaChance, President & CEO.
In Washington, Shawn was active in local youth sports organizations, as well as holding Board of Directors roles with Express Credit Union and Northwest Immigrant Rights Project. Shawn and his wife, Kara, both graduated from California State University, Chico and have three grown daughters. As natives of California and being avid outdoors people, they are looking forward to their move to San Luis Obispo and exploring everything that this community has to offer. If it involves being outside, you are likely to run across Shawn and Kara.
