We’re partnering with News Channel 12 to honor nonprofit volunteers who make our community thrive. Each month, we’re choosing a different nonprofit and asking them to select a valuable volunteer to receive the SESLOC Cares for Community Award. In April, we were thrilled to meet Mary Watt, from the SLO Food Bank.
Mary Watt began volunteering with the SLO Food Bank at a Hunger Awareness Day in 2019. She grew up in the Bay Area and ran a nonprofit agency. Having experienced food insecurity both as a child and as an adult is how she found her passion for feeding others.
Mary’s dedication to hunger relief, welcoming demeanor and commitment to her community has helped to provide a safe place for our neighbors to receive food bank support, sign up for CalFresh and learn more about resources.
Thank you, Mary, for your community support, and congratulations for being chosen the SESLOC Cares for Community award recipient!
