Do you know long you should hold onto your tax records? The IRS generally recommends three years.
Then what?
Because paper documents like your taxes have sensitive information, like your Social Security Number, they must be stored securely and then destroyed when no longer relevant to prevent opportunities for Identity Theft.
That’s why SESLOC invites our members to Shred Days. Shred Days is an easy way for members to destroy their sensitive information thanks to our partnership with DocuTeam, a NAID AA Certified Company that adheres to stringent security practices and procedures. Members can bring up to two legal boxes full of confidential documents to be securely destroyed — an $80 value free of charge. In 2019, we hosted Shred Days May 18 at our Atascadero branch, June 8 at San Luis Obispo, and October 5 in Paso Robles.
